What Is Biochar Gardening?

The mayor of Minneapolis and the chairman of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux signed an agreement Tuesday that promotes the use of biochar. Jim Doten, Minneapolis’ environmental services’ supervisor, says it’s a product similar to cooking charcoal that’s used for gardening.

Public Invited To Shakopee Pow Wow

Dancers from across the country will compete at an annual pow wow in Shakopee. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will hold the event Aug. 15-17 on its reservation. The pow wow is known by the Dakota word “Wacipi”, which translates to “they dance.”

Propane Crisis On Dakotas Reservation Easing

The leader of the Standing Rock Sioux says a propane crisis on the Dakotas reservation is easing due to warmer weather and a drop in the price of the fuel. Chairman Dave Archambault says the tribe has ensured that everyone in need of propane has received some.
