Shae Kelley and Shayne Mullaney combined for 41 points as the University of Minnesota women’s basketball team won at Penn State 85-77 on Sunday. The Gophers (20-6, 9-5) got 23 points from Kelley in the victory. Mullaney added a career-high 18 points.
Tyler Scaife scored a season-high 28 points, on 12-of-21 shooting, to lead No. 25 Rutgers women past No. 21 Minnesota 66-61 on Saturday night.
Whitney Bays scored 25 points, including the game-winning jumper with 3.4 seconds left in overtime, to give the Purdue women a 90-88 upset over No. 21 Minnesota on Thursday.
Shae Kelley poured in 29 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, both career-highs, and No. 23 Minnesota pushed past Ohio State 76-72 on Thursday night. Mikayla Bailey added 16 points with 12 rebounds for the Gophers (15-2, 4-1 Big Ten), who had a 60-40 rebounding advantage. Amanda Zahui B. chipped in 14 points with eight boards and Shayne Mullaney dished out 10 assists.
Amanda Zahui B. scored 20 points — including a pair of free throws with 6 seconds left — and blocked a last-second shot to secure Minnesota’s 72-69 win over No. 12 Nebraska on Monday in both team’s Big Ten opener.
