Authorities are investigating a motorcycle crash following a high-speed chase from St. Paul into Wisconsin. The Minnesota State Patrol says the chase started Sunday night when a trooper tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing man. Joseph Albert Briske, 45, left his home in the Hudson area early Monday morning without telling anyone.

A two-vehicle crash in St. Croix County has left one man dead and another with serious injuries Thursday evening. According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s office, the fatal accident occurred at 5:24 p.m. on Highway 63, approximately one-quarter miles east of 240th Street in Cylon Township. Isrrael Romos of Clear Lake, 33, was driving a 2000 Honda Civic westbound on HWY 63, and for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line. A 1991 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 46-year-old Daniel J. Rittman of Menomonie, Wis., struck the passenger side of the Civic.
The Polk County Sheriff’s office is investigating accusations of animal neglect on a farm owned by a Wisconsin family. Milltown Township officials say they found nearly two dozen horses malnourished, and several were dead when they were called to Otter Creek Ranch last week. Polk County Town Chair Harlen Hegdal says it was a disturbing sight. “I knew it had to be serious because the sheriff’s deputy said ‘We need to have you out here ASAP,” Hegdal said. “There were dead horses, there were horses eating their stalls. There were horses just sitting rocking, back and forth.”

Authorities responded to the crash at about 4:06 p.m. Saturday on Old State Highway 35 at the intersection of Tower Road near Hudson.
