Police Search For Suspect In St. Paul Burglaries

St. Paul police are seeking help in the search for a man they believe is behind a rash of burglaries. Investigators believe the same man is behind at least four business break-ins. The break-ins occurred at Core Power Yoga on Grand Avenue, Steele Fitness on Grand Avenue, the Minnesota Museum of American Art on East 4th Street and the Victory Ramp Deli on North Wabasha Street.

St. Paul Police Need Help Identifying Serial Burglar

St. Paul Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man responsible for several burglaries. Police released still images from surveillance footage on Thursday of a man they believe to be the suspect in at least four burglaries in the downtown area. Anyone with information is asked to call St. Paul Police’s burglary unit at 651-266-5737.

Ramsey Co. Reopens Cases Against Archbishop Nienstedt And Fmr. Priest

Prosecutors say they want St. Paul Police to reopen a sexual abuse case against Archbishop John Nienstedt, but not because of any new evidence. The Ramsey County Attorney’s office told WCCO that it doesn’t want reports from the Nienstedt case being made public yet because of other elements that need to be investigated. They say those other elements don’t have anything to do with the archbishop.

St. Paul Man Shot By Police Charged With Attempted Murder

A suspect shot by police in St. Paul last Friday has been charged with attempted murder, according to court documents filed Tuesday in Ramsey County. Cory Anthony Lee, 37 of St. Paul, was charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder and one count of ineligible possession of a firearm in connection with the March 21 incident.

St. Paul Police Welcomes 1st Female Somali Officer

St. Paul Police welcomed the first Somali female officer to the department on Saturday. Kadra Mohamed joined the department as part of its community liaison program. Kenyan-born Mohamed graduated from Central High School in 2010. She will graduate from St. Cloud State with a criminal justice degree in May, but she got her badge Saturday and spoke some words of wisdom to future recruits.

Man Who Allegedly Stabbed Co-Worker Charged With Murder

A St. Paul man and former boxer has been charged with the stabbing death of a co-worker at a Newport business on Thursday. According to the Washington County Attorney’s office, 58-year-old Gregorio Ramirez is charged with 2nd-degree murder. He’s accused of killing his co-worker, 44-year-old Uriel Ortiz, at Bailey Nurseries early Thursday evening.

Police: Man Claiming To Be Cop Making Harassing Calls

Maplewood Police are investigating reports of several suspicious and lewd phone calls made to area businesses by someone claiming to be a police officer. In five separate instances involving female call recipients, a man with a deep voice identifies himself as an officer from the Maplewood, St. Paul or Roseville police departments. The caller initially says he is conducting a survey as part of a school presentation project, but then asks the female employee a series of personal questions including their age, hair color and clothing.

Victim, Suspect In Fatal Stabbing At Newport Business ID’d

The victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Newport business Thursday have been identified. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s office, 58-year-old Gregorio Maso Ramirez allegedly stabbed 44-year-old Uriel Navarro Ortiz at their workplace. Police were called to Bailey Nurseries at 1325 Bailey Road at 3:40 p.m. Thursday on a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers found Ortiz on the lunchroom floor in a pool of blood.

Teen Accidentally Shot By Friend At St. Paul Home

A 16 year old is hospitalized after being shot in the abdomen by a 15-year-old friend, according to St. Paul Police. The shooting happened right before 7 p.m. at a home in the 900 block of West Nebraska Avenue. Police say the gun was accidentally discharged. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital by the mother of the friend who fired the weapon.

Chicago Man Gets MN’s Longest Sex Trafficking Sentence

A Chicago man was sentenced Friday to more than 26 years in prison for the sex trafficking of a teenage girl – which may be the longest sentence ever given in Minnesota for such a crime. According to the Ramsey County Attorney’s office, Arteco Marvell Rhodes, 38, was found guilty on Nov. 1 on one count of engaging in sex trafficking in the first degree and possession of child pornography. Rhodes met the defendant, a 15-year-old girl, in Chicago in March, and asked her if she “wanted to make money and be part of the family.” Within weeks, Rhodes drove the teen and a 19-year-old woman from Chicago to the Twin Cities in a conversion van.

Driver Injured After Train Hits Truck In St. Paul

The Minnesota State Patrol said it’s investigating after a train crashed into a truck overnight. Authorities said the accident happened at about 12:45 a.m. Friday along Doswell Avenue in St. Paul, a remote back road near where Como Avenue crosses Highway 280.

Man Who Led Cops On Chase Is A Murder Suspect

A Maplewood man who led police on a high-speed chase is the prime suspect in a murder, according to police. The murder happened at a home located on 855 E. 4th St. in St. Paul. On Tuesday, Nov. 26, police responded to the home and found the victim dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police: Man Shot Following St. Paul Chase

A man is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after being shot by St. Paul Police after he tried to flee officers during a traffic stop on Friday evening. According to St. Paul Police, an officer stopped a vehicle just after 5 p.m. near Front Avenue and Marion Street, but the driver fled soon after. The suspect eventually slowed his vehicle and jumped out near the intersection of Front Avenue and Woodbridge Street. Officers at the scene fired their weapons at the suspect, wounding him. No officers were injured.
