Man Shot By Officer After Chase Still In Hospital

A man remains hospitalized after being shot by police during a chase Friday evening. Investigators say he fled in a car when an officer pulled him over at around 5 p.m near Front Avenue and Marion Street. His passenger bailed during the chase and got caught.

Police: Man Shot Following St. Paul Chase

A man is hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after being shot by St. Paul Police after he tried to flee officers during a traffic stop on Friday evening. According to St. Paul Police, an officer stopped a vehicle just after 5 p.m. near Front Avenue and Marion Street, but the driver fled soon after. The suspect eventually slowed his vehicle and jumped out near the intersection of Front Avenue and Woodbridge Street. Officers at the scene fired their weapons at the suspect, wounding him. No officers were injured.

Police Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run That Injured 2

St. Paul Police have arrested a suspect in the hit-and-run crash that left two people critically injured. Early Sunday morning, 22-year-old Nicholas Bergeland and 22-year-old Rebekka Peterson, both of St. Paul, were struck on the 1900 block of Grand Avenue.

Authorities said the incident happened just after 4 a.m. Sunday, when a St. Paul police officer responding to a report of a burglary near the 1700 block of Dayton Avenue, heard gun shots fired nearby.

Couple Arrested For Stealing Musical Instruments

Police made some quick arrests after several musical instruments were stolen from local college campuses. On Friday, St. Paul Police asked for the public’s help in locating a couple suspected in the burglaries. A few hours later, Sgt. Paul Paulos received a phone call from Richfield Police, who said they had the couple in custody.

Technology is helping law enforcement reduce the risk of a high-speed chase. The new tool, from Star Chase, allows officers to track a fleeing vehicle with a GPS device, rather than pursuing the suspect in a squad car. High-speed chases are not just dangerous situations for officers and suspects. Innocent bystanders and drivers are also at risk. Police: Man, 27, Killed In St. Paul Bar Shooting

Police have identified the victim in a shooting at a St. Paul bar early Saturday morning that killed one and injured two others. Authorities said 27-year-old Adlai Xiong of Minneapolis was shot to death at the Moonshine Saloon on the 1100 block of 7th Street East.

Prosecution Rests In Day 6 Of Trevino Trial

On Friday, prosecutors concluded their case against Jeffrey Trevino, accused of killing his wife, Kira Steger, in February. Steger’s body was found in the Mississippi River three months later. Prosecutors took two hours questioning retired St. Paul Police Sgt. John Wright for the second time in the trial. He discussed his interviews with Trevino, and provided details about the couple’s deteriorating relationship in the months leading up to her disappearance. He told the jurors that Jeffrey and Kira planned to have a date night on the night she was last seen. Wright said the Trevinos were trying to save their relationship, which he said had been suffering for months.
