Vikings Fans, Former Players React To AP Suspension

Adrian Peterson will not be returning to football anytime soon, after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended the Vikings running back without pay. In a letter to Peterson, Goodell said his reinstatement would be contingent on him completing a treatment and counseling program.

Twins Minor Leaguer Draws 50-Game Drug Suspension

A minor league player in the Minnesota Twins’ organization has been suspended for 50 games without pay after a positive test for a banned stimulant. Catcher Alex Real was suspended Tuesday by the commissioner’s office. The 21-year-old Real was drafted by the Twins in June.

NFL Suspends Vikings’ Simpson For 3 Games

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson has been suspended for three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, his second such punishment in three seasons. The league announced the punishment Friday, putting Simpson on the sideline until Sept. 22 when the Vikings begin practice for Week 4.

Minnesota Wild left wing Matt Cooke has been suspended for seven games by the NHL for a knee-to-knee hit that injured Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie. Cooke was at the league office in New York on Wednesday for a hearing about the incident, and his punishment was announced about eight hours later.
