Man Honored For Jumping Off Cliff, Saving Kid In St. Croix River

A good Samaritan who jumped into action was honored Wednesday for his heroism. In May, Calvin Vang, 11, fell into the St. Croix River while fishing in Taylors Falls. The boy’s uncle drowned trying to save him. But a bystander was able to leap from a 30-foot cliff into the raging river and pull Vang to safety.

Body Of Coon Rapids Man Recovered From St. Croix River

The body of a 21-year-old Coon Rapids man has been recovered five days after he jumped into the St. Croix River to try to save his nephew. According to the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, crews found the body of Tou Hu Vang Friday at 9:51 a.m. just south of the Osceola Landing.

Search For Missing Man In St. Croix River Resumes Tuesday

An 11-year-old boy who was rescued from the rushing St. Croix River over the weekend is very thankful to be alive as crews continue to search for his uncle. The boy’s uncle jumped in to try to save him but is still missing after the two were fishing on the river on Sunday in Taylors Falls.

Sheriff Identifies Man Missing In St. Croix River

A 21-year-old Coon Rapids man remains missing Monday after he jumped into the St. Croix River in Taylors Falls in an attempt to rescue his nephew, authorities said.
