On Monday, Jason DeRusha paid a viewer $20 for a box of the new edition Twinkies from Hostess. This morning, he may be wishing he had a couple bucks back. Those tasty little sponge cakes are back, but smaller than you remember.
Hostess is betting that its Twinkies comeback will be a sweet one. The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure. It says it plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting July 15.
If you harbor a craving for Twinkies, Cupcakes or Ho Hos, you might be out of luck.
