Twins To Honor Gardenhire For 1,000th Career Win

The Minnesota Twins plan to honor manager Ron Gardenhire for his 1,000th career victory. The team has scheduled a special pregame ceremony to honor Gardenhire before Wednesday’s 12:10 p.m. game against the Oakland Athletics at Target Field.

Twins Fans Enjoy Spring Weather At Home Opener

After a very long winter Twins fans finally got to enjoy some outdoor baseball, and some sun. It was 60 degrees and sunny during first pitch at Monday’s home opener at Target Field. A lot of fans were wearing t-shirts, shorts and shades.

A’s Ruin Home Opener For Twins With 8-3 Victory

The Oakland Athletics can win a lot of different ways, as evidenced by their two-year hold on the AL West division title. Yoenis Cespedes proved he can play through a hurting right heel, giving Scott Kazmir and the A’s a spark with a pair of RBIs that helped spoil the Minnesota Twins’ home opener with an 8-3 victory on Monday.

Yankees Trade INF Nunez To Twins For LHP Sulbaran

Eduardo Nunez’s time with the Yankees ended after a decade when the infielder was traded to the Minnesota Twins for left-hander Miguel Sulbaran. The deal was announced Monday. The Twins assigned Nunez to Triple-A Rochester. Signed by the Yankees in 2004, Nunez came up to the major leagues in 2010 and was seen as a possible successor to Derek Jeter at shortstop.

Twins Place Bartlett On DL With Sprained Ankle

The Minnesota Twins placed utilityman Jason Bartlett on the disabled list Monday and recalled catcher-outfielder Chris Herrmann from Triple-A Rochester. Bartlett sprained his left ankle Sunday at Cleveland after replacing left fielder Josh Willingham, who was hit by a pitch on the left wrist. Willingham was out of the lineup for Minnesota’s home opener against Oakland, and right fielder Oswaldo Arcia was sidelined for the third straight game because of a sore right wrist.

Target Field Preps For Twins Home Opener

Warmer weather means spring, and spring means Twins baseball. The team is back at Target Field Monday for the home opener. Crews spent the day Saturday getting the field ready. With the snow being cleared Friday and the grass drying out, they were able to paint all the “Opening Series” logos on the grass Saturday.

Kyle Gibson limited Cleveland to one run in his season debut after Brian Dozier led off the game with a home run, leading Minnesota to a 7-3 win over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday and giving Twins manager Ron Gardenhire his 1,000th career victory.

Twins Fall To White Sox As Challenge Backfires

Ron Gardenhire won his first replay challenge, but the Minnesota Twins’ manager conceded afterward that it cost him his starting pitcher. Kevin Correia came out after a lengthy delay, the Twins bullpen couldn’t hold a lead and the White Sox beat Minnesota 7-6 on Wednesday. “The 20-second challenge that took a long time,” Gardenhire said of the review in the top of the seventh inning. “I don’t know what was going on, but it ended up taking a long period of time and you end up losing your starter because of it.”

Twins Place Duensing On Paternity Leave

The Minnesota Twins have placed left-hander Brian Duensing on the paternity list and have recalled right-hander Michael Tonkin from Triple-A Rochester. The moves were announced before Monday’s opener against the Chicago White Sox. Duensing’s wife, Lisa, gave birth to a boy named Boston Matthew Duensing in Omaha. It was the second child for the couple.
