Another armed robbery has been reported at the University of Minnesota, this time near the University Village. Authorities said the incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the bus stop in front of University Village on University Avenue between 25th Avenue and 26th Avenue SE.

New Transplant Tech Keeps Lungs Warm, Ready To Work Immediately

Last week, a new lung transplant procedure was used at the University of Minnesota, and for the first time in the Midwest. The new technology keeps the lungs warm and breathing from the time they leave the donor. Common practice has been to keep the organs on ice before transplant.

Woman Falls From 6th Floor Of U Of M Dorm

University of Minnesota Police are investigating how a woman fell out of a 6th floor window at a residence hall early Saturday evening. Authorities say the woman was taken to the hospital after she fell from the window at Yudof Residence Hall on the campus’ east bank shortly before 6 p.m. They say she is not a U of M student. Investigators are continuing to look into what happened, but say it appears to be an accident.

Gopher Hockey Player Suspended After DWI

An incoming University of Minnesota freshman hockey player has been indefinitely suspended after a DWI arrest Saturday. Gabe Guertier, 18, was pulled over by University Police early Saturday morning. He was detained at the Hennepin County Jail for several hours after being charged with fourth-degree DWI. Gopher mens hockey coach Don Lucia announced Sunday that Guertier would be suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. His suspension will be re-evaluated in November.

U’s Newest Dorm Is Both Student & Environment Friendly

Step inside the brick and glass building at the corner of 17th and University in Minneapolis and you might catch contractors putting on final touches. Beginning Monday, University of Minnesota students will be moving into the first new residential hall on campus in over 10 years. Each room will come with beds pre-lofted to save on precious space. And with some 71 bathrooms and showers in the building, there should be little waiting each morning where 600 students will be getting ready for class.
