Minnesota has hired the top official to oversee research on the effects of marijuana for the state’s new medical marijuana program. Dr. Thomas Arneson, an internal medicine specialist with research experience in several organizations, will head up research efforts in the state’s Office of Medical Cannabis. His hire was announced Thursday. He starts Monday.
Health officials said Thursday a harmful vapor is potentially entering homes and buildings in parts of Minneapolis, and it’s raising health concerns for residents. The Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency sent letters on Wednesday to residents in the Como neighborhood of southeast Minneapolis to alert them of the issue.
Local crews, including the north metro Hazmat team, are on the scene of an apparent acid spill, which has released vapors into the air.
