Body Found In St. Croix River Near Lakeland Shores

The Washington County Sheriff’s office says a body washed up on the shores of the St. Croix River Friday. The discovery was reported at about 2:30 p.m. near the city of Lakeland Shores. The body has not yet been identified, but it is believed to be that of a man.

Retired Ramsey Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Under Investigation For Missing Evidence

A retired Ramsey County Sheriff’s deputy is being investigated after pieces of evidence from some of his cases were found to be missing. The Ramsey County Sheriff’s office says retired Deputy Thomas Rudenick is being investigated after inconsistencies in some of his property records become apparent while his remaining cases were being closed out.

1 Person Dead In Washington Co. Rollover

One person has died after a rollover car accident in Washington County late Tuesday evening. According to the accident report, 24-year-old John W. Schmidt, of North St. Paul, was traveling westbound on Highway 96 toward Kimbro Avenue N. when he went around a curve and into oncoming traffic.

A popular high school teacher was shot to death by a teenager early Saturday morning in Mahtomedi. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s office, police received report of a shot fired near Highway 244 and 75th Street North at 3:17 a.m.

Cottage Grove Woman Indicted On Child Pornography Charges

Nude photos of a sleeping child led to a federal indictment for a Cottage Grove, Minnesota, woman. Roxanne Merrell, 35, has been charged with two counts of production of child pornography. She was offered $100,000 to take photos of a minor “below the waste” and nude, according to the indictment.

Sheriff: 2 In Custody After Chase Ends With Van Crashing Into Garage

A police chase involving a stolen van ended Monday morning with the van crashing into a garage in White Bear Lake and two people being taken into custody, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the incident started at about just before 2 a.m. as officers in Washington County got into a pursuit with the van on County Road E in Mahtomedi.

Authorities say a 57-year-old Forest Lake man died Tuesday afternoon in a crash in southern Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at about 3:15 p.m. in Denmark Township.

Authorities: Man Drowns In St. Croix River

Authorities said a man disappeared under water in the St. Croix River Sunday night. Washington County Sheriff’s dispatch said rescue crews arrived at Point Douglas Beach in Hastings, Minn. around 5 p.m. According to officials, Juan Gabriel Diaz, 40, swam out to the buoy line at the beach.

Victim, Suspect In Fatal Stabbing At Newport Business ID’d

The victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Newport business Thursday have been identified. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s office, 58-year-old Gregorio Maso Ramirez allegedly stabbed 44-year-old Uriel Navarro Ortiz at their workplace. Police were called to Bailey Nurseries at 1325 Bailey Road at 3:40 p.m. Thursday on a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers found Ortiz on the lunchroom floor in a pool of blood.

1 Dead, 1 In Custody After Stabbing At A Newport Business

One person is dead after an apparent stabbing at a Newport on Thursday afternoon, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s office. Authorities responded to a report of a stabbing victim in need of medical assistance at Bailey’s Nursery at 3:39 p.m. The victim eventually died, and a suspect is in custody. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
