Authorities say a 57-year-old Forest Lake man died Tuesday afternoon in a crash in southern Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at about 3:15 p.m. in Denmark Township.
Authorities are looking for the driver of a car that hit two bicyclists on a frontage road late Saturday night and left the scene, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The incident happened at about 11:52 p.m. on the 14000 block of 60th Street North in Oak Park Heights.
Between the All-Star Game events and the thousands of spectators, it’s a lot to monitor. “It’s a big operation,” Minneapolis Police Commander Scott Gerlicher said. The security command post for the All-Star Game, which kept at an undisclosed location, houses around 30 of the top city, state and federal law enforcement officials who are working together this week.
A man from Scandia was found dead after a fiery car crash Sunday night north of the Twin Cities, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities were called at about 9:45 p.m. to a single car crash where the car was on fire on the 12000 block of 228th Street North in Scandia.
Authorities said a man disappeared under water in the St. Croix River Sunday night. Washington County Sheriff’s dispatch said rescue crews arrived at Point Douglas Beach in Hastings, Minn. around 5 p.m. According to officials, Juan Gabriel Diaz, 40, swam out to the buoy line at the beach.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a missing 75-year-old man who has dementia. Clifford Lee was last seen Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. in the city of Grant. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and possibly a navy-colored sweatshirt.
Authorities said they’ve recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy from the Mississippi River in St. Paul Park after a drowning Sunday night. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was called at about 5:13 p.m. to Lions Levee Park along the Mississippi River on a report of a drowning.
An early morning fire in Lakeland, Minn. has left one person dead. Crews were called to the 1200 block of Rivercrest Road just before 2 a.m., according to the Washington County Sheriff’s office.
The victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Newport business Thursday have been identified. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s office, 58-year-old Gregorio Maso Ramirez allegedly stabbed 44-year-old Uriel Navarro Ortiz at their workplace. Police were called to Bailey Nurseries at 1325 Bailey Road at 3:40 p.m. Thursday on a report of a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers found Ortiz on the lunchroom floor in a pool of blood.
One person is dead after an apparent stabbing at a Newport on Thursday afternoon, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s office. Authorities responded to a report of a stabbing victim in need of medical assistance at Bailey’s Nursery at 3:39 p.m. The victim eventually died, and a suspect is in custody. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appears to be the shooting death of two horses. Deputies found their remains on a Scandia farm, and the man deputies arrested for the crime has been in the news before.
A man who pleaded guilty to an incident that involved holding 11 people hostage and sexually assaulting four teenage girls at gunpoint in a Washington County motel room has been sentenced to 36 years in prison.
Authorities said a bull had to be put down Wednesday morning after getting loose in east Twin Cities metro. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the bull somehow got loose during a transport and the area of Manning and Hudson Avenues near Afton late Tuesday night.
A 9-year-old boy on a bicycle was seriously hurt Wednesday night after crashing into a parked motorcycle east of the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Authorities said the crash happened at about 5:41 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 5 at 31st Street North in Lake Elmo.
About 50 brass flower vases were stolen from Mahtomedi grave sites over the weekend and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating them, and in identifying the suspects involved. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mahtomedi reported that the 50-some 10-inch tall and 4-inch wide vases are each valued at $200. They went missing on Saturday and Sunday.
