OSHA Fines Wisconsin Bar $7K For Death In Dumbwaiter

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined a Wisconsin bar $7,000 for the death of an employee who died when her head got caught in a dumbwaiter. OSHA says WingDam Saloon and Grill in Fountain City failed to furnish a workplace free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death to serious harm to employees.

Police: Dumbwaiter In Fatal Case Worked Properly

Police say a food elevator at a Fountain City restaurant where a college student was found dead was functioning properly. Fountain City Police Chief Jason Mork says in a news release that the elevator system at WingDam Saloon and Grill was not damaged in Monday’s incident that left Brooke Baures dead.

Federal and state regulators have launched separate investigations into the death of a Winona State University gymnast who died while working at a restaurant in western Wisconsin. The body of 21-year-old Brooke Baures was found in a food elevator at WingDam Saloon and Grill in Fountain City Monday night.

Campus Holds Vigil For Student Killed In Dumbwaiter

Police are hoping to talk to anyone who was at a western Wisconsin bar and grill in the hours leading up to a worker’s death. Coworkers of 21-year-old Brooke Baures called 911 from the WingDam Saloon and Grill in Fountain City to report an accident around 7:45 p.m. Monday. “I think one of our coworkers got squished in like our dumbwaiter. But I’m, like, not willing to look close enough,” said one of her coworkers in the initial 911 call.

Winona State University Student Found Dead In Bar’s Dumbwaiter

A 21-year-old Winona State University student was discovered dead inside a bar’s dumbwaiter Monday evening, according to the Fountain City Police Department. Shortly before 8 p.m., the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from WingDam Bar and Saloon in Fountain City, Wisconsin. When authorities arrived, they discovered the body of an employee identified as Brooke Baures in the food service elevator.
