If your resolution is to ring in 2014 with great music, then we’ve got just the places for you to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Lovers of dance music, Broadway, adult-alternative, country and more will find just the ticket for them. These concert venues are not only right here in Minnesota, but many of the artists are local themselves. Here are our top five ways to rock until the ball drops.

Minnesota’s 89.3 The Current and Electric Fetus present a special New Year’s Eve performance from folk rock foursome Dawes. Catch this group at the Varsity Theater for a VIP experience that includes a sound-check listening party, pre-show appetizers, a meet and greet with the group, champagne at midnight and more to kick off 2014. VIP tickets are $125 and general admission is also available for $75. Doors open at 8 p.m. for this event and you must be over 18 to enter.

Ring in the New Year with popular Minneapolis songwriter and musician Tim Mahoney in Excelsior. Head over to the stylish 318 Café for an evening of delicious food, fine wine and soulful singing. This should be a packed house since Mahoney has gained an even larger fan following after his 2011 run on “The Voice.” Reservations are strongly recommended for this anticipated New Year’s show.

Broadway veterans Joan Hess and Kirby Ward say goodbye to 2013 during “Dancing and Romancing.” This evening of song and dance numbers combines the best of Broadway and Hollywood. Ticket prices range from $25 to $65. Group, senior and student discounts are available.

Send 2013 out with a bang at the 7th Street Entry of First Avenue. Local group Night Moves and special guest Pony Bwoy bring their original sounds to this iconic downtown Minneapolis music club. Cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Must be over 18 to enter.

If you love country music, you won’t want to miss the covers Tim Sigler does of your favorite tunes from Johnny Cash, Luke Bryan and other country stars. Join him and the band at the Eagle Street Grille for a New Year’s Eve filled with eating, drinking and singing until 1:30 a.m. Tickets are $25 and include free domestic taps and rail drinks from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight. You must be over 21 to attend and reservations are strongly encouraged.
