Babies need a lot of things. But where do you get them? You know shopping at small, independent businesses helps keep your money in your own community, but what new parent has the time to peruse the Yellow Pages?

Here is a list of 10 such stores that sell baby and children’s clothing, as well as other products for kids, like toys and cloth diapers. Or if you prefer, at the end there are links to several chain stores’ “store locators.”

Seasonal childrens consignment sales are also a great way to shop for everything you need for your baby or child at a fraction of the cost of buying from a retail store. The sales are usually held over the course of 1 weekend in the spring and fall. A listing of seasonal sales in Minnesota by location and date can be found at: http://www.mnkidsconsignmentsales.com

  • too bad

I was at this store today and yes, they carry absolutely beautiful clothing, but the customer service was HORRIBLE! My toddler and I were the only people in the store (and now I know why). We weren’t greeted to start. Next, I asked who I assume was the owner of the store, to show me where the toddler clothing was. She gave me the dirtiest look and pointed as if I totally annoyed her. Last but not least, my 2 1/2 year old asked if she could use the bathroom. She said, “I’m sorry, we don’t have a restroom here.” Really? You can’t let a toddler use the bathroom? Give me a break! This place should definitely go into the customer service hall of shame!

I thought my comment would automatically reference the store I was referring to, but it didn’t. It was Baby Banou.
