Sitting alongside Lake Superior, the town of Tofte is home to historic Bluefin Bay. The resort's history dates back to the late 1800's when four Norwegian settlers arrived in the area and were welcomed by Native Americans who helped them understand the land and moody seasons. Eventually a small lodge was created to accommodate the area's growing traffic. Today, Bluefin Bay is an extensive year-round lakeside resort with skiing, hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and an onsite spa.
