Hazmat Crews Respond To NE Mpls. Rail Yard
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Emergency crews had quite a scare overnight at a rail yard in Northeast Minneapolis as hazmat crews were summoned to the scene.
The crews were called to the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe rail yard near Main Street and 35th Avenue around 1 a.m. when one of the train cars appeared to be leaking a liquid.
A worker at the rail yard experienced some irritation after working on a damaged rail car. She guided crews to a car that was marked "acid."
After crews took a closer look they determined the liquid in that car was just corn syrup.
The crews don't think there is a hazardous situation at the rail yard. The railroad company is checking other cars just to be safe.
