Minn. Man Pleads Guilty To Illegal Voting
ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) -- A 22-year-old southern Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to voting illegally in the November general election.
Brohdy Avery has a felony conviction that made him ineligible to vote.
According to the plea petition, Avery entered his plea with the understanding that prosecutors will not recommend jail time. The agreement also recommends he be sentenced to probation, to run at the same time as a probationary sentence he's already serving for drug possession.
The Albert Lea Tribune says Avery reportedly voted, even though he signed probation agreements stating that he was not allowed to vote until his civil rights are restored.
He also reportedly signed a Minnesota voter registration application that contains an advisory that felons cannot vote.
Sentencing is set for April 25.
