ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — No felony charges will be filed against a Washington County commissioner arrested last month on suspicion of domestic assault.

The Ramsey County Attorney’s office Monday declined to bring a felony domestic assault by strangulation charge against 41-year-old Bill Pulkrabek.

In a statement, County Attorney John Choi says there is “insufficient evidence” to bring a felony charge against Pulkrabek.

But Choi’s office instead recommended a misdemeanor charge be considered.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Ramsey County Attorney’s office had no jurisdiction in this case to charge a misdemeanor offense unless a felony charge was filed as well. Ramsey County had been asked to take the case to avoid a conflict of interest in Washington County.

A message left Monday night for the Woodbury prosecutor was not immediately returned.

He sounds like a great guy. he is married, and has a girlfriend, and decides to choke girlfriend and pull her by the hair. I don’t understand why he isn’t being charged. Is it possible this low-life has friends in high places? Either way, he sounds like a pretty tough guy.

He’s a puke & if he truely did do this, there would be evidence that the victim would have seeked medical attention for. I know that this story will get more interesting as it unfolds. I’ve known the “mistress” for a few years & lets just say that her accusations against others have never held up. Lies catch up to you. Don’t get me wrong however, if he truly “beat her” (minus the refusal of medical attention) I would gladly kick him in the nuts for her! These 2 if anything, sound like they deserve eachother!

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. I am familiar with pulkrabek and this story does not surprise me. Eventually, everyone’s true colors come out. I don’t exactly know what she would have to gain by pretending to get beat up. It isn’t like Bill is some well known, high powered politician.
