MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Three people were involved a very serious head-on crash in Crystal, Minn.

Officers from the Crystal Police Department and Brooklyn Center Police Department were called to a two-car accident at Bass Lake Road and Orchard Avenue around 8:46 a.m. Sunday.

Police arrived and found three people severely hurt. They had to be extricated from their vehicles and were brought to North Memorial Hospital where one of the vehicle drivers later died from his injuries.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows that a mini-van that was making a curve from westbound Bass Lake Rd. to southbound Orchard Ave. and crossed the center line. The mini-van struck a Jeep Cherokee that was heading north on Orchard Ave.

Officers said alcohol does not appear to have played a factor in the crash.

The names of the injured people will be released after family is notified. The driver of the Jeep is the one who died.

The crash remains under investigation by the Crystal Police Department with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol and Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.

    More bad drivers killing people on Minnesota roads. This ignorant jackwagon couldn’t even negotiate a simple curve in the road without losing control and killing someone. Real nice, you toolbox…

    That is a dangerous curve! People drive too fast around the curve. How many accidents have happened aren’t big enough for the news?

    There needs to be a way to divide the North & South bound lanes with a Median!

    I think it’s interesting that there is a Palm Reader next to the abandoned gas station. Maybe they have a better chance of seeing around the corner than the rest of us.
