Woman Pleads Guilty To Biting Off Other Woman's Ear
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 24-year-old Red Lake woman pleaded guilty Thursday to biting another woman's ear off and biting her nose.
Joelyn Rose Hart pleaded guilty to one count of maiming, after being indicted on June 8.
According to her plea agreement, Hart admitted she intended to torture, maim and disfigure the woman by biting off her ear and biting her nose on Jan. 1, 2009. The incident allegedly occurred during a New Year's Day party on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
The other woman had to undergo five reconstructive surgeries to re-attach her ear.
Hart faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, if convicted. Her sentencing has not been scheduled.
