WCCO Team Wins Sing-Along Contest For Charity

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- One of the new things at the fair is the "Great Sing Along." It's like a giant karaoke system.

On Friday afternoon, a group of our WCCO-TV co-workers competed with two other media teams from Fox 9 News and the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Jason DeRusha put our team together, hoping to win $1,500 for charity.

The first competitor was definitely tough. She's a theater major from Fox 9 singing Katy Perry. Plus, Marina Jurica is pregnant.

Neal St. Anthony from the Star Tribune led his team with a rendition of the Village People's "YMCA."

Then team WCCO had to bring it. Photographer Joe Berglove and Good Question Intern Kate Raddatz were on lead vocals for "Summer Nights" from the movie Grease. They were joined by the dance style of Liz Collin, Angela Davis, Jason DeRusha and Chris Shaffer.

It was a very close race, but in the end the WCCO team got the loudest applause. With it came a $1,500 check.

We picked 360 Journalism as our charity. They train 200 high school students every year at the University of St. Thomas, particularly low-income and minority students. All in all it was a fun event for a great charity.
