Police: Man Shot By Police In Aug. Gets New Charges
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man who was shot by police in August at a Minneapolis housing complex faces a new assault charge after the Hennepin County Attorney's Office amended his criminal complaint, police said.
Leroy Martinez, 23, faces an additional charge of first-degree assault for attempting to use deadly force against a police officer, police said.
The additional charge adds 10-20 years and/or $30,000 to the penalties Martinez faces.
Police shot Martinez on Aug. 8 after they repeatedly told him to drop the gun he was carrying and allegedly shooting around the housing units of the Little Earth residential community.
