MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota’s most eligible bachelor is off the market. Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer proposed to his girlfriend, Maddie Bisanz, over the weekend.

WCCO confirmed the engagement, first reported Sunday afternoon by Lindsay Guentzel, in her personal blog.

Mauer proposed in Florida, where he lives off-season. Bisanz is a nurse and a former high school classmate of Mauer’s. Both attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul. Bisanz and Mauer graduated in 2001.

The two did not date during high school, rather, they reconnected in recent years, according to Mauer’s family.

Mauer has always been private about his personal life and his dating past, although he was linked to former Miss USA Chelsea Cooley in 2006.
