NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) — A news anchor for KEYC-TV in Mankato was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, weeks after a video showing her slurring through a newscast went viral.

According to a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, Annie Stensrud was arrested in the city of North Mankato just before noon on Wednesday for probable cause DWI.

A witness called 911 to report the driver, and the call was transferred to Nicollet County dispatch. Nicollet County then sent one of their officers to pull her over.

Stensrud was booked and released. Toxicology tests are still pending.

Earlier this month, a video showing Stensrud struggling to get through a newscast caught national attention. Station general manager Dennis Walhstrom talked with WCCO Radio about the incident, claiming Stensrud had “been sick.” He said she was taking medication and missing a lot of work, but wanted to get back on air. Walhstrom said, on the day in question, she was not drunk, but had a bad reaction to the medication.

KEYC-TV is an CBS affiliate.

hahaha, we all knew she was drunk on the air.. now all the people who didn’t believe can be believers.

    1. Paul Harvey says:

And now you know…the rest of the story

  2. Rocky says:

Yea, sure…..We stupid people out here really believe You Mr. Walhstrom….you should be a polltician…….

Drunk at noon? Makes me think she might not have been drunk during that 10 p.m. newscast, just hung over real bad.

Certain prescriiption medications exhibit the same symptoms when driving a car as alcohol. In fact they will carry warnings on their labels as not to be used while driving or operating heavy machinery. Antihistamines will do this and so will antibiotics, antidepressants and antipsychotics. Ms. Stensrud should have read the labels and not driven her car.

    1. Yeah, I'll have some of what she's having says:

It looks like her drug may have been Jack Daniels. But you’re gonna stick with an antisneezent, eh?

  5. TL says:

well that kinda puts a hole in the “she was on meds” theory the station GM was trying to sell to the public.

Cant imagine the stress of being an anchor on a small market newscast but apparently enough to down a bottle or two before daily activities…including work.

  6. PJO says:

she wasn’t drunk, she’s been ill and it was the medication she is on. yeah right, how stupid did the station manager think we were?? yeah she was under the weather and the sickness was called hammered. you got to give the station manager credit, he was trying to save face for the station and ms stensrud

    1. PJO says:

i didn’t realize it was that important to use capital letters, i guess to YOU it is. if i offended YOU, you have my fullest appologies. if you like you can track down all of the teachers i had in elementary school and tell them they were horrible teachers.

      1. @PJO (hmmmm) says:

You a freak or a drunk or a doper there PJO ?
Can I change the initials to POS ?
Much better fit for you. Say – did you ever get through school ? Hmmm – I do recall a puny little boy who spent a lot of time in the corner with his face up against the wall crying. I thought it funny that he cried only after he wet himself and not when he po-po’d his pants. Those days as a liasion officer were something else.
Patrick – POS still works for the first letter. Happy wetting there little one and may Santa bring you Depends by the cases ! cheers

Hey news fans, before we through the proverbial book at Stensrud or hang her from nearest oak tree let’s get all the facts. Does she take medications that would affect her driving? Did she have an on-scene BAT by the arresting officer? Are there other pertinent facts not in this story yet to be revealed? Until the TOX screens get released let’s hold off judgments until then.

If she was drunk, previously, on-air, the station GM should be in the hot-seat also. Since this DUI arrest was at high noon and on personal time[?] let’s just wait and see what develops. Unless Stensrud has had a previous DWI record let’s just hold off until the facts are in. There is more to this that was not revealed to us. Let’s find out!

    1. Uncle Rico says:

Hey Redundant Swamp Fox- should we wait till we get all the facts? Maybe we should wait till we get the facts and find out the rest of the story. Let’s hold off on making any judgments till we hear the rest of the story. Once we get all the information we’ll no for sure what happened. You can’t go around making accusations until you get all the facts. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I bet people start looking for the door whenever you open your mouth.

      1. Swamp Fox says:

        @Uncle Rico?
Rico, old chum, do you have all the facts? Didn’t mean to sound redundant but have you kept up with this story or even read it? What relevancy to the story are you contributing by attacking my remarks about factual information related to such? Thanks for showing your ignorance to us all!

  8. travis says:

who let her go on the air in the first place? and who let her keep going?

  9. markH says:

It just reminds everyone about how dangerously evil marijuana really is (sarcasm, in case you didn’t recognize it). We should be spending our “war on drugs” resources in combating the REAL killer on our roadways-ALCOHOL!!

    1. Uncle Rico says:

Yep, that and pain pills. Legal crack.

  10. dev says:

Best thing that could have happened to her.

  11. Wait a sec says:

Hey folks, here’s a possability. Does anyone know the signs of diabetis? It’s almost the EXACT same signs as being drunk including the slurred speach. If the BAC test comes back as clear….won’t all you people who are condeming her feel real stupid. Let’s just wait and see what the BAC test says before drawing a conclusion.
