MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — There’s finally enough snow on the ground in northern Minnesota for sled dog racing.

The Gunflint Mail Run Race will atart on Monday.

Mushers will go about 100 miles starting at Devil Track Lake, and finish on Tuesday.

Organizers are expecting 16 teams to compete.

The popular Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon had to be canceled recently due to a lack of snow in the Duluth area.

The last time that event had to be cancelled was in 2007.

Please send some of your snow to Wichita, Kansas. I’m a transplant from a more wintery climate and I miss the white stuff a lot. We’re dry as a bone here, and quite warm–above average even for Wichita. What a wimpy winter!
