MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man was cited twice in one hour for speeding — in both incidents he was driving more than 100 mph, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Troopers say the man was ticketed going 100 mph on Interstate 94 in the Detroit Lakes area. The speed limit in that area is 70 mph.

An hour later, the same man was ticketed again by a second trooper — this time traveling at 106 mph on the same road.

During the second traffic stop, the driver told the trooper that he has a hard time realizing his speed.

I might be a simpleton but, Don’t most cars these day’s come with cruise control?

    1. Barb Altman Cline says:

They may, but he does not sound bright enough to figure out how to use it. But they have always come with a speedometer. Must not be much for reading either.

    2. ez says:

      Also speedometers.

    3. Brett says:

Mine doesn’t as a 2002 model. However, a judge should make this idiot take his car into a car dealership, where they can program the speed limiter to not exceed 70 mph. Still, he could, and SHOULD, lose his license for at least 6 months, which is recommended under state law.

      1. just saying... says:

Somehow I think this fellow might not really care whether he has a license giving permission to drive or not. After all, it’s just a rule…

    4. tj says:

Maybe his cruise control was set that high.

  2. Real Talk says:

EXACTLY….jail time for this loser…could have so easily killed someone. Doesnt take much at 106mph either…just a slight jerk of the wheel, or bump in the road.

  3. Clint's loaded for the hunt says:

Issue with the system today is he’s tagged, believe with 2 at this speed he’s loses DL automatically but he has what’s called a problem and total lack of respect for the law and others. 30-60 days would be a cure…but will they?

  4. big banjo says:

i wonder if when he gets his sentence he will realize hes in jail….or doesn’t have a license anymore……..i’ll bet 10 to 1 that when he gets suspended he will still drive…….i just hope that each ticket was in a different county.

  5. republican says:

Ticket the auto manufacturer aswell, just for making cars go so fast above 70MPH.

    1. MadDawg says:

    2. Rich Corporate Guy says:

No, no, bad idea you dumb Republican. It will eat into my huge profits and I’ll just have to charge you more.

    3. Average Ordinary Guy says:

      My Maserati does 185!

      1. Deep Thinker says:

But you lost your license so now you don’t drive…by the way…nice gold records on the wall…

        1. Dale says:

And you ride in the trunk, in case you get drunk………..

    4. Peter says:

      you are an idiot

  6. Mark says:

I have read some of these comments, and I kind of laughed…. How many of you actually drive the speed limit? If you answered “I do” then please get of the left lane so I could pass you and go with the flow of traffic.

Also, how many of you have been out of the country and been to germany? I have, and the interesting statistic is that the Autobahn is the most safest highway in the world….. AND IT HAS NO SPEED LIMITS…

Also, you guys should look at the facts of how many accidents people cause that don’t go with the flow of traffic, but sit in the left lane doing the speed limit or less.

    1. Huh says:

Bear in mind the Autobahn was engineered for high speeds. That hardly applies to most of our freeways.

    2. desert eagle .50 says:

If klowns like you wouldn’t speed, the flow of traffic WOULD be going the speed limit and the roads would be a lot safer. Need to get somewhere, leave earlier.

Did you learn how to break the law from JAQ? Please be specific.

      “Most safest….” Duh…

    3. Brother Rascal says:

      “Most safest?”

Oh dear Lord, Sister Mary Francine would spin in her chastity belt if she heard that.

Everybody knows the correct pluperfect subjunctive of the adjective “safe” is “m-o-s-t-e-s-t s-a-f-e-r-e-s-t.”

    4. Wishin Mark would slow down says:

Ah Mark….. You do realize that most of the Autobahn does have speed limits. They range from 50 to 80 MPH. There are only small segments that are unregulated.

    5. Pumphandle says:

So you’re saying the flow is 100mph? Wow you’re a tree stump.

    6. Brett says:

I’ve been on the autobahn as well, HOWEVER, there is a big difference between US and German laws. 1. They don’t let you drive JUNK on the roads. 2. Their BAC is at .05. 3. When there is a crash on the autobahn, it is often very ugly. 4. They don’t let IDIOTS drive there, at least not very often.

Note to Mark, just because you are in the left lane doesn’t mean that you can drive at ANY speed you feel like. If I’m in the left lane doing 5-7 mph above the speed limit, you should NOT be tailgating me.

      1. jackactionhero says:

You shouldn’t be in that lane unless you’re passing slower traffic that is in the right lane.

        1. Brett says:

I disagree. I cruise in the left lane to avoid all of those who don’t have a CLUE on how to MERGE on to or off a freeway. And YES, I’m usually passing slower traffic in the right lane(s), just not as fast as some LEADFOOTS would like.

          1. Move B*tch says:

It’s not my fault your car sucks. get the f* out of my way or I’ll flash my lights at you.

    7. dee says:

I read that although the Autobahn has no speed limits, it does have a law that won’t allow you to drive too close to the person in front of you. so you either stay back at a safe distance or pass. Most of the accidents occur when we are going to fast and kissing the bumper on the car in front of you. So for that you would get a ticket in Germany.

  7. Liquid Nails says:

You guys can even turn this into racial comments?
    Pretty pathetic.

    1. Janet Ramsoj says:

deser eagle……come on dude stay on target….we are talking about MINNESOTA and we are talking about speeding…sheez……get a life…

  8. SK says:

Let me guess. I bet it’s not the 80 year old neighbor who is a little slow physically that was speeding. Then there might be an excuse. Something tells me its another teen or early 20s caucasion male.

    1. john doe says:

You forgot and left out no brains.

    2. Beemer says:

      Or a Minnesota Viking.

  9. Julie says:

I had something like that happen to me once on interstate 94

  10. Billy says:

Ok, your right, sorry the trooper was male

  11. 70 year old says:

Why was he not arrested the 2nd time they pulled him over and then put in jail?

  12. Brett says:

As long as he doesn’t take me out with him when he turns his car into a horseshoe when he wraps it around a tree, I’m good with that.

  13. Sgt says:

When when I grew up Im going to be a roadrunner, beep, beep zipbang!!

  14. Sgt says:

When I grow up Im going to be a Roadrunner!! Beep,Beep,Zip,Bang!

  15. Hang Up and Drive says:

Speed is safer than cell phones!

  16. Tenbears says:

Tenbears bets the driver was a democrat.

    1. Aletheya says:

Yeah, but Tenbears refers to himself in the 3rd person, and therefore can’t be taken seriously. Medication will help with the voices.

  17. BOB says:

    I can’t drive 55

  18. Mr Know it all says:

Interstate 94 doesn’t go in the Detroit Lakes area. Throw the case out of court.

  19. just sayin says:

My ride tops out at 144. I’ve only gotten it to 125. (this was on i-90) in the middle of nowhere! I wouldn’t do that in the cities 🙂

    1. jackactionhero says:

I doubt it. I would wager it is governed to shut off, or has a restrictor so it can’t go faster than 115 or 120.

      1. Brett says:

JAQs speed limiter needs to set around 80.

  20. Move B*tch says:

The real problem is people go too slow. If you would go faster I wouldn’t have to flash my lights and honk at you to get out of my way.
