MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — I’ve been to a lot of dog parks, and my opinion has been that you can’t do better than Minnehaha off-leash dog park in Minneapolis. But, you had something else in mind.

One viewer said the hour drive to the Ramsey County off-leash dog park in Battle Creek was well worth the travel time. I was skeptical, but you can see what kind of time me and my dog, Gus, had in the video above.

No, Minnehaha is better, you have better trails and the river where dogs can swim, about the only thing better at Battle Creek is the parking. The crowds at Minnehaha can be bothersome at times but you can just go at offpeak hours.

Yes– Minnehaha is BETTER!! And that drive is WAY over an hour from Minneaplois! Not to mention the bad parking at Battle Creek, and the surly, gruff, unfriendly people and all the dangerous dogs! And the place is a pit! Don’t forget the ticket you’ll probably get in the parking lot, and all the broken glass and gunshots that are always competing with the firecrackers. I also hate the giant snapping turtles in the ponds, and the snakes. Sometimes there are coyotes and I think I saw a mountain lion once. Add the overbearing stench from the abattoir and the fact that it always seems to rain over Battle Creek and it definitely makes Minnehaha– and all other dog parks a clearly better choice. Who needs to drive uphill both ways from Minneapolis–in the snow, year-round no less– for over an hour to get to that stinky, unfriendly, dangerous place? Yes, definitely better to go to Minnihaha. NOT Battle Creek!!

Apologies for the spelling errors— for some sadistic reason the pre-posted copy is light gray. Fairly impossible to read whilst typing, until posted.

Did I mention the raptors? There are hungry raptors which sometimes swoop down and grab the smaller dogs at Battle Creek. Best to stay away.
