Police: Shooting In N. Mpls Leaves 1 Dead

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One man, who seemed to be in his mid-twenties, died Tuesday evening in north Minneapolis after being shot, police say.

Sgt. William Palmer, of Minneapolis police, said officers responded to reports of shots fired shortly before 7 p.m. near the 1700 block of Irving Avenue North.

However, it was an officer conducting traffic on the 1100 block of West Broadway Avenue who saw that a man had suffered a gunshot wound.

A car pulled up on West Broadway and three people got out, saying a man, who was in the car, had been shot. Officers and emergency crews then attempted to aid the victim, but he died at the scene, Palmer said.

The victim's identity will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

No arrests have been made, Palmer said. But the Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit is investigating.

Police are also talking with the men who drove the victim to West Broadway Avenue to see if the incident was related to the reported shooting on Irving Avenue North.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 612-692-8477.
