Woman Upset Over Mani/Pedi Makes Threats, Is Arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old woman who was upset over her manicure/pedicure was arrested after police say she refused to pay, stole some nail polish, threatened a man with a box cutter and threw acetone in his face.

Police say the incident happened last Thursday around 4:42 p.m. at the Crystal Nails on the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue West in Minneapolis.

According to the precinct report, the woman became upset after getting a manicure and pedicure and refused to pay, saying she wasn't satisfied.

She was allegedly verbally abusive toward employees before she took a bottle of nail polish and left. About 15 minutes later, the woman returned with a box cutter and tried to take more nail polish.

A 45-year-old man blocked her path, according to the report, so she held the box cutter to his face and then sprayed him with a bottle of acetone.

Police say the woman swung the box cutter at the man, causing him to fall, before fleeing the scene in a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman.

Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the woman. She was booked in Hennepin County Jail for possible robbery. Her accomplice was cited and released.

Police say the victim at the nail salon suffered a bruised and scraped elbow and eye irritation.
