Police: Woman Dies After Being Hit By Truck
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – An 85-year-old woman is dead after a pickup truck hit her Monday morning in St. Paul, authorities said.
Sgt. Paul Paulos said the incident happened shortly after 9 a.m., just north of the intersection at Cretin Avenue and Highland Parkway. The woman was in the street when the pickup, which was being driven by 47-year-old Freddie Davis Smith, struck her. Smith was not issued a citation.
Police say the woman was not in a crosswalk.
She was taken to Regions Hospital, where she later died.
Smith stayed at the scene and spoke with police. Paulos said there was no indication of drug and/or alcohol use on his part. They also said speed was not a factor.
