Minneapolis Sculptor Restores 'H' From Hollywood Sign

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minneapolis sculptor Bill Mack plans to unveil what's billed as the original "H" from the famed Hollywood sign.

Mack has spent four years restoring the giant letter. It was believed the original sign was sold for scrap metal when it was removed from Mount Lee in 1978. But Mack bought the remains of the original sign in 2006.

During the restoration Mack was suspended in a motorized lift as he directed the placement of metal pieces from the original Hollywood sign.

The restored "H" will be unveiled Thursday in Bloomington. Mack plans to eventually tour the "H" around the world.
