Back To School For MN's Teacher Of The Year
EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- How does Minnesota's Teacher of the Year get ready for the new term?
Jackie Roehl is one of the 50,000 teachers in Minnesota who will be getting acquainted with their new students on Tuesday.
But Roehl, who teaches 10th grade English at Edina High School, puts the emphasis on students meeting students.
"Having students get to know each other actually helps get to know each other as learners. Give them tasks that they have to complete together. Then, they rely on each other," she said.

That reliance, she says, is an effective learning tool, as well as the involvement of parents, whom she calls "our children's first teachers."
Roehl is the current Teacher of the Year, an honor bestowed by the teachers' union, Education Minnesota.
