Man Gets 6 Years For Throwing Vise Through Windshield

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 40-year-old Bloomington man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for throwing a vise out of his car that smashed the windshield of another car and seriously injured an Iraq War veteran.

According to the charges, Gerret Parks was accused of throwing numerous objects out of his car on numerous occasions in December, January and February, while driving in Bloomington.

Parks admitted to drinking heavily at the time and remembered very little of what happened, but he said he did not doubt the reports and pleaded guilty to the crime.

One the victims, Jon Stacke, was hit in the face when a vise came crashing through his windshield. He was severely injured and has thousands of dollars in medical bills that continue to accumulate.

"It shattered my jawbone, basically down the center," Stacke said in a previous interview. "They basically had to plate that back together. It knocked out six teeth on the bottom and crushed all the bone down in there, and it knocked out my top tooth."

Restitution for Stacke has not been determined. All other victims will receive a combined total of $5,000.
