Movie Blog: T.C. Film Fest Opens With 'Place At The Table'

David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook, fresh from its audience favorite award at the Toronto Film Festival, is set to screen during the upcoming Twin Cities Film Fest.

The Twin Cities Film Fest runs Oct. 12-20, and also includes screenings of A Place at the Table, which is the opening night selection, and the Minnesota-shot comedy Lumpy, which stars Justin Long.

Another screening selection with Minnesota interest will be The Sessions, which stars native John Hawkes. His performance as a paralyzed man who hires a sex surrogate to lose his virginity is getting Oscar buzz. As is Silver Linings Playbook, the festival's centerpiece. Past audience favorites at TIFF include Slumdog Millionaire and The King's Speech, so you have to presume Playbook is a player in the fall Academy Awards sweepstakes.

And, yes, it is "that" E.T. you see below. It's screening in conjunction with its new release on Blu-ray.
