Hopkins, Bloomington Kennedy On To 4A Title Game

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Hopkins will play for a third straight Class 4A state girls basketball title.

The Royals will face Bloomington Kennedy in the championship on Saturday at Target Center.

Nia Coffey had 20 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 1 seed Hopkins past Osseo 73-50 in the semifinals on Thursday, a rematch of last year's title game. The Orioles trailed by only six points at halftime, but Hopkins used a 12-0 spurt in the second half to cruise to the victory.

Jade Martin scored 11 points in the other matchup to help second-seeded Kennedy hang on to beat Eastview 53-49.

Sophomore star Madison Guebert led the Lightning with 19 points, but she shot only 3-for-15 from the floor. Kennedy outrebounded Eastview 40-29.
