St. Cloud State Beats Alaska-Anchorage In Playoffs

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Joey Benik and David Morley had a goal and two assists each to lead St. Cloud State to a 6-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff win over Alaska-Anchorage on Friday.

Benik scored for the Huskies (22-14-1) in the second period and assisted on goals by Garrett Milan and Morley in the first period. Morley assisted on Milan and Benik's goal.

Jonny Brodzinski scored twice for St. Cloud State, which can wrap up the best-of-three series with a win on Saturday. The Huskies outshot the Seawolves 32-23.

Ryan Faragher started in goal and made 19 saves in two-plus periods. Joseph Phillippi made three saves in six minutes of the third period.

UAA (4-24-7) got a goal from Scott Warner and 26 saves from Rob Gunderson.

UAA has lost eight straight games.
