Andover Fire Officials Look For Arsonist In 12 Grass Fires

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are asking for the public's help to identify the person or persons responsible for a number of grass fires over the weekend.

By Saturday afternoon, there were several grass fires on Hanson Boulevard. Andover Fire Chief Dan Winkel says they were called next to Bunker Road, and said they have fires in 12 different locations.

"We believe it was someone driving, could have been on a motorcycle," he said.

It happened in about 10 minutes.

"We have a team from the DNR looking for clues, but the public can help," he said.

He said if anyone saw anything suspicious, they should call the Anoka County Sheriff's department.

Winkel added this is a dangerous time of year, with the snow melted, but grass has not yet greened up.
