Wis. Teen Takes Miss Minnesota To His Prom

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A special Wisconsin teenager will never forget his prom, this past Saturday night.

"I can't stop thinking about her. My heart is pounding."

That's what Menomonie, Wis., High School junior Charlie Gainey said as he prepared for his prom date. It happened to be Miss Minnesota's Danielle Hooper. She's a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

The two met for the first time on Friday.

"I think she's so special. She has a great smile, she has a great laugh," Gainey said.

"I work in the financial aid office just part-time at Stout and one of the ladies who works there with me knows Charlie's family," Hooper said. "She heard he got nominated to his prom court, so she kind of thought of the idea that maybe I could go with him."

Not only did Charlie take Miss Minnesota to prom, he was voted prom king.
