After Dayton Signed The Bill, The Party Started

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – On Tuesday, Minnesota became the twelfth state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Amid cheers, Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton signed the bill on the State Capitol lawn. He thanked lawmakers for their political courage as a large crowd chanted and waved flags.

The law doesn't take effect until August, but the party in St. Paul started almost immediately.

Elation was the word one man used to describe the atmosphere. WCCO's John Lauritsen was there. See what the celebration was like in the video above.
