MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Century Community College's left-handed ace Jared Dettman, who is pitching in the Junior College World Series, should get drafted for a second time next week.

"My coach is a scout part-time for the Braves, so I mean he's talked to me a little bit about it, but I try not to think about it too much," Dettman said.

Cedar Rapids Kernels' manager Jake Mauer sees some similarities between first-round prospect Byron Buxton and his brother - the Twins' Joe Mauer.

Gopher basketball coach Richard Pitino has met recently with both Apple Valley's Tyus Jones and DeLaSalle's Reid Travis.

"He's hungry. He's excited to get going. Great basketball mind. You can tell he's been around the game and been in places that not a lot of people experienced," Jones said.

"He's a great guy. I mean, first off I just thought he's mature beyond his years, and just thought he had a real grasp on basketball. And his vision for the U is just second to none. I just really think he has a passion for basketball, where he wants to take the program," Travis said.

It will be interesting to see if Pitino re-considers Hopkins' Jared Nuness for a position on his staff since one may come open very soon.
