Driver, 69, Arrested In Hit-And-Run With Bicyclist

CARLTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 69-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly striking a bicyclist and fleeing the scene.

According to the Carlton County Sheriff's Office, the hit-and-run incident happened on Sunday evening at the intersection of Highway 61 and Rolling Road in Thomson Township.

The sheriff's office said the bicyclist, 43-year-old Michael Howard Norton, suffered "substantial bodily injury" as a result of the crash.

On Monday, authorities arrested Carol Emily Nygren, of Esko, on charges of criminal vehicular operation.

It appears inattentive driving was the cause of the crash.

Nygren is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning. She is currently being held at Carlton County Jail.
