Teen Seriously Hurt In Stearns County ATV Accident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said a 15-year-old boy from Brooten was critically hurt Monday after crashing and rolling his ATV in Stearns County.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash at about 6:28 p.m. Monday on the 45000 block of Isabella Road in North Fork Township. When authorities arrived, a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 four-wheeler driven by the boy had lost control and crashed into a ditch, rolling several times.

Authorities said another 15-year-old boy driving another ATV witnessed the crash and immediately reported it. The victim, Zachary Kaine Walz, was taken by ambulance to a hospital before being airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office said it's investigating what led up to the crash. There were assisted at the crash scene by Brooten Fire and Rescue.
