Gary Sinise's Foundation Helping Wounded Minn. Vet

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Some star power came to town Friday night to help a Minnesota marine wounded while serving in Afghanistan.

The Stars and Stripes Charity Gala was held at the St. Paul Downtown airport to raise funds to build a new home for Cpl. Mark Litynski.

WCCO-TV's own Frank Vascellaro and Amelia Santaniello were honored to emcee the event.

Litynski lost both of his legs and his left forearm after he stepped on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan back in November of 2010.

Actor Gary Sinise's Foundation stepped in to help after hearing about Litynski.

Proceeds from theevent will be used to build a "smart home" for Litynski in Duluth.
