Man Crushed By Structural Beam At Cabin Near Hibbing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a man died Saturday night after getting pinned by a beam at a northern Minnesota cabin that several people were doing construction work on, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities were called to the scene at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Lavell Road about 15 miles southeast of Hibbing on a report that a person was trapped under a building. When authorities arrived, several people were doing construction on a cabin when a structural beam had collapsed, trapping the victim under the building.
Officers attempted to rescue the man by cutting a hole in the floor of the cabin, but he had already died. Authorities identified the victim as 45-year-old Randy Sayler of Big Lake.
