Twin Cities Forum On 'Miss Saigon' Planned
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Asian-Americans in the Twin Cities have a chance to discuss an upcoming production of the musical "Miss Saigon."
Mu Performing Arts will host a public "Conversation Around 'Miss Saigon'" Monday night at the UBS Forum at Minnesota Public Radio headquarters in downtown St. Paul.
Members of the Twin Cities Asian-American community protested a touring production of "Miss Saigon" 22 years ago. Based on the Puccini opera "Madame Butterfly," ''Miss Saigon" tells the story of an American Marine and a Vietnamese bar girl during the Vietnam War.
"Miss Saigon" will play at the Ordway Center in St. Paul Oct. 8-13. Mu Performing Arts wants a dialogue about the effects the musical has on Asian-Americans.
Admission is free but an RSVP is required.
