MN Orchestra Nominated For Grammy In Midst Of Dispute

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Despite being in the middle of a labor dispute, the Minnesota Orchestra continues to shine.

The orchestra's latest album was nominated for a Grammy Award Friday night in Los Angeles.

Tony Ross is one of the musicians, and he says the nod from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences is "huge."

"Especially if the orchestra is not in Nashville, or Los Angeles or San Francisco." Ross said.

He said that's because there are not a lot of voting members in this community.

"It is an honor," he said.

Ross hopes the nomination might give management an incentive to end the labor dispute.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Jan. 24, 2014.
