Bloomington Teacher Convicted For Abusing 4 Students

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 60-year-old substitute teacher has been convicted of abusing four students at a Bloomington elementary school last December, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office announced Monday.

Laura Avery of Bloomington was found guilty of four counts of malicious punishment of a child in connection to the Dec. 13, 2012 incident.

The attorney's office says it was found that Avery had yelled, swore and made threatening comments at students in her classroom.

It was also found that Avery had kicked an 11-year-old boy as he walked to recess, pulled a 10-year-old boy's hair and slapped his face, grabbed another 10-year-old boy by the neck and forcefully grabbed the shoulder of another 10-year-old boy.

No sentencing date has been set.
