Badgers Beat Minnesota 2-1 To Earn Sweep
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After losing their first regulation game in Big Ten Conference play Thursday night, the University of Minnesota men's hockey team was swept in a 2-1 loss at Wisconsin Friday night.
The Gophers only goal of the game came from Seth Ambroz on the power play at at the 12:03 mark of the second period, which tied the game 1-1. Ambroz leads the Gophers with 12 goals this season.
Minnesota native Grant Besse scored late in the first period to give the Badgers the early 1-0 lead. Wisconsin scored the eventual game-winner at the 4:33 mark of the third period. Adam Wilcox took the loss in net despite making 25 saves. The Gophers outshot Wisconsin 29-27 for the game.
Minnesota (19-4-5) still leads the Big Ten with an 8-2-2 record. The Gophers will host Michigan next weekend at Mariucci Arena.
