Lake City Man Dies In Pierce County (Wis.) Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 51-year-old Minnesota man was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash on snow-covered roads in western Wisconsin, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities responded to a report of a crash at about 9:35 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 63 near 220th Ave. in Trenton Township. A 2000 Chevy Malibu was headed northbound on the highway when it lost control on the snow-covered road and hit a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica.

The driver of the Malibu, identified as Joseph Leo Lemieux of Lake City, Minn., was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Pacifica, a 35-year-old man from Spring Valley, Wis., was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with unspecified injuries.

Authorities said heavy snow was falling at the time of the crash and weather appears to be a factor. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Ellsworth Fire, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Red Wing Fire Department.
