2014 Minn. State Fair Official Artwork Revealed

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Now that the weather's feeling a little more like summer, it's time to start looking forward to "The Great Minnesota Get-Together!"

The State Fair's 2014 Official Commemorative Art was unveiled Wednesday on the State Fairgrounds. St. Paul artist Emily L. Taylor was selected to create the official artwork.

Taylor presented her original watercolor piece which shows playful and colorful representations of Minnesota's people, crops, animals and landmarks.

She grew up just blocks from the fairgrounds, and says a strong sense of tradition helped her capture the essence of the fair's place in Minnesota culture.

"The main objective of my illustration is to promote not just the events that occur within the State Fair, but also the fact that it is a get-together of people from all across the state," Taylor said.

A cake with the image of the poster was served to guests after the unveiling.

The Minnesota State Fair runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1.
